just put in some VR4 cams everything else is the same, the corporate sharing of the mitsu engine gave hyundui all the 1G head engines where mitsu went to the smaller port 2g. i have 1800 and 2000 cc hyundui engines here and you can buy them for next to nothing. turbo mitsu's have lower comp pistons.

there is plenty of potential for a high reving engine, eg: 1.6 litre crank in a 2 litre or a 1.8 litre crank in a 2 litre. for revs is would be worthwhile keeping the pistons as small and as lite as possible. the 1g head will flow enough with a very mild port job and a short runner manifold with a ...

Wowsome of these posts are old! but the 2 litre hyundui head is the same as a 1g, but have a close look at the inlet manifold i think you will find the plenum and runners are a lot bigger, could have real possibilities!! more than the 1G for bigger performance.

Sorry i didnt mean that it was going to melt, you will find it will crack really easy. the tip of an oxy/ acet' is up to about 5000 degrees f, that why they melt steel, its more the dissimilar metals that will be the problem.

If you have a compressor, seal off motor "PVC", oil cap on, remove the oil filter and put an air line into the valve cover breather 'tight fit' this will pressurise your crankcase and the only way the air can escape is to force oil up the pickup and out the filter and there you have it ...

1G big ports, thats why the cyclone manifold is a killer down low! smaller runners till you get to about 4000rpm (thats what i have mine set at) and when both runners are open the manifold makes power to about 7000rpm

I dont think the brazing is going to like the heat the turbo is going to put into that pipe! the pipe will be as hot as what the brazing torch could get it to RED hot. so just keep an eye on the bronze running. where the bronze is a bit lumpy (rough) it needs a bit more heat from the torch to smooth ...

Have a look at the front of the sump where it attaches to the oil pump cover the 7 bolts were not flat across this area. as where the 6 bolt is flat all the way around the bolt surface. the 7 bolts dip down across the front three bolts about 1/2 an inch. I may be wrong BUT THATS VERY RARE!!lol

Make sure you have the power connections on the right polaritys, mine used to weld like that even with gas, out door welding just doudle the gas flow. practice on a bit of scrap first!!!

The 99 model MK has shitloads more room around the engine bay. The gearbox is the basic starion front case with hyd clutch with the triton ext' housing. Just waiting for the eagle rods to come back had to get the 7 bolt rods rebushed to the .821 pin size, i already had the wiseco's they were 64/1g ...

The starion tranny will hold up to 450 whp ok just give it fresh bearings to start with, i have been flogging the crap out of mine with 300 kw atw and no real issues yet! just they hate real fast gear changes!

just leave the balance shaft sprocket on there it will never hurt anything and is good for if you get the motor balanced they can just remove weight from it and leave the balancer alone.

Evo 4 onwards are reversed to the 1g or VR4, the plenum from what i have seen sits a bit lower aswell. All evo's were 7 bolt engines that why the ports are the same as the 2g. the egr port i am not sure about but if you are not that worried about pollution laws just block it off with some JB weld.

To do that setup you do have to redrill the steam holes in the back of the block and block 1 of the holes in the front of the 4g63 head and you should have hotspot probs, just get the two gaskets and compare them you will see what i mean!

Adjustable rod to the valve cover bolt wont allow for to much expansion of the pipes and i dont think that little bolt will last long when the manifold does grow!

I think you will find fidanza only make flyweels for the FWD and AWD and they dont need a pilot bearing but if you know anyone with a lathe that is big enough to hold the flywheel "swing" its not a problem just make the hole size interference fit ( .0005 less than the bearing diameter)

The issues with swapping the water outlet from the back of the head to the front are only the small steam holes in the back of the engine, if you look at the rwd type head gasket against the 4g63 head gasket you will see what i mean! the 4g63 head has to have the two steam holes drilled in it and ...
