From what I understand, you can just bolt the head on, but I'm not sure if there's any differences in the bottom end. I would guess that the SOHC motor's valve reliefs would be in the wrong place. It would probably be better to just swap the whole motor (like WickedTSI said), especially since it's ...

Yeah, what you would have to do is use the Mistu flywheel and pressure plate, and try to find a GM clutch disc small enough. Then you would have to make sure that the input shaft is the right length, and if it is, you would probably have to make a pilot bushing. So basically, it would most likely ...

well, I don't want to get in the argument... :) But if it bolts up to an auto tranny, it'll bolt up to any of the GM Chevrolet manual trannys too. They might just say auto only because of clutch, pressure plate, and input shaft issues. I'm not sure, but the bolt pattern for a chevrolet tranny is ...

Well, I really wanted to do it in a truck, but after watching all the drifting stuff, I want something I can drift too. I loved the 200SX I used to have, and they can be found easily for dirt cheap. I know it's crossbreeding, but it'd still be cool. The only reason I wanted to stay away from the ...

Yeah, it was a circle track race, the guy in front of me overheated and he didn't have his overflow tube running up to the windshield, so he sprayed water all over the track, and he backed off, and by the time I did, I was in the water. Racing tires, water, and driving on the edge don't mix well ...

Wow! That looks like an awesome truck! I'll bet with that much transmission your driveshaft is about 4" long...
One things for sure, I'll bet there's not another one like it anywhere! How are you making the adapter plate? I thought of building something myself, but I'm not sure how to make ...

Just browsing through the www.lookoutdrift.com website, watched the videos, and all I have to say is I'm hooked!! :D That is freakin awesome watching that stuff. Boggles my mind that you can keep a car sidways for that long. I'm not sure if I'd be able to do it though, I've been racing for too long ...

Yeah you're probably right. I don't have the truck here at the house (it's in Creedmoor, about 20 miles away :D), but it's the Plymouth Arrow version of the Ram 50, at it's pretty much all optioned out. I'm pretty sure it's at least got a tach and water temp guage. But, I'm thinking about getting a ...

Man that is awesome! Just wish I had something to drift with. Well actually, have there ever been american cars drifiting? I've got an 89 T/A 5 speed that would do pretty good. Well, actually, I don't think it's got enough power... Weak little stock 305... Guess I just have to get working on ...

So basically, if I find a 2.4 block with the wide pattern, there wouldn't be any transmission swapping needed? I guess it really all depends on what I can find around for cheap :), but that's good to know anyway...

Yeah, the ones from the D50 and Mighty Max trucks with the 2.0 will bolt on, but everyone keeps saying they're not strong enough to hold up. I don't know, maybe I should just get it and run it till it does blow... :D Thing is though, I want it to be tough because I plan on running it at the drag ...

Alright, here's the second part of my brainstorming. Thought I better put it in two threads to make a little bit more sense out of it. The truck that I want to swap into is a 2.6 truck, and all the talk about the transmissions has me wondering if the truck trannys and the Starquest trannys are the ...

Well, I've been brainstorming all day (one of my favorite things to do, brainstorm about new projects that will never get finished :P ), and I was wondering how much difference there is in the turbo and non turbo 4G63. Since the turbo 1G's are not real real easy to find (around here anyway), I was ...

Well, I've been thinking about it, and it might be easier to just ditch all the stock guages in the truck and run Autometer. Nice big 5" tach right in the middle (where it belongs :) ), get a smaller (3 3/8") speedo, and fit all the other guages I need wherever they'll fit... :D I'm not afraid to ...

So you're thinking about going with the Tec3 setup, right? I wonder since I'm still in the planning stages I should think about going with the standalong system to start out with, and not even mess with the stock harness and ecu. From what I've heard, the electromotive stuff is super simple to hook ...

Slightly off on the 2.4 mark. Using the 4G64 with the 4G63 head throws the rod ratio way out of whack. So much that it requires milling of the block to make clearance for the rod and crank.
I'm assuming you're talking about the 4G64 crank in a 4G63 motor. Using a 4G64 bottom end with a 4G63 head ...

OK, I'm still not sure I'm gonna be able to do this. It's actually my friend's truck, but it's kinda gonna be a project for the two of us, so I have to work on talking him into it. So his truck is an 84, which comes with the 2.6 (which led me to the Starquest board, which led me here :D) , so if I ...
