I don't know, maybe it's not a good idea, I'm just thinking off the top of my head here. Let me know what you think, and also if anybody knows more about the 2.4/2.0 hybrid motor stuff, let me know...

OK, I'm still not sure I'm gonna be able to do this. It's actually my friend's truck, but it's kinda gonna be a project for the two of us, so I have to work on talking him into it. So his truck is an 84, which comes with the 2.6 (which led me to the Starquest board, which led me here
) , so if I do the swap, I'm gonna need the tranny from a D50 with the 2.0, right? Well after reading some stuff about the 2.4 Mitsu motor (4G64?), why shouldn't I just buy the motor and tranny from a 2.4, then sell the head and intake and go ahead and build the bottom end up, then just get a DSM car and pull the head, intake, etc. off and do it that way?

Well, now I've got the truck, should I do the swap?

honestly, I would concentrate on getting the motor in and running first. Just go with a 1st gen ONLY 4g63Turbo and hope to god somebody will either post or start to sell the good tranny solution. Just for kicks, Eric Plebani has all the part numbers that are like a secret to build the ultimate 5 speed to do the swap. He used them in his 10sec Conquest with the 4g63 using off the shelf parts. So building the right tranny has been done already.
What about the Supra tranny? How hard is it to modify the bellhousing to get that to work? I've made up my mind that if he doesn't want to do this swap, then I'm gonna do it in something, even if I have to buy a truck... lol
And you're probably right about the getting it running. I just tend to plan things out way over my head...

Do you think Mr. Plebani would be so kind enough to enlighten us?
As for the supra tranny check here: <a href='http://rz-products.com/w_adapter/w_adapter.html' target='_blank'>Supra tranny conversion</a>
I received word a few days back that development would begin again on these. Something to keep an eye out for.

I second that. People have tried. What's the deal with him? If anybody knows him tell him that there is this site and that if he tells us once nobody will bother him again because they can get all the info on here.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
