Many of you here will think this is travesty, but I picked up a Conquest (with a friend, we split it) for $600.
The head is cracked because of the wastegate being stuck closed, but the engine does turn.
I'm pulling the engine/trans combo out of this car, separating it from the G54B and attaching ...

Question about viability of a G54B
Hello,
I am picking up a fairly worn Conquest this Friday (non runner) pretty much for its transmission. Don't worry, my friend is putting an SBC into it.
Now, assuming the engine isn't seized, how good of a motor is the 2.6? My original plan was to put a 2.0 narrowblock (I have several KM132 ...

I found a car with a narrowblock in RWD configuration!
Unfortunately it is prohibitively rare and only available to Canada.
It is a 1987 (Only) Hyundai Stellar and it will have the G63B installed.
I found this out the hard way when I drove to Buffalo (2 hours each way) to get a new engine (G64B from a Dodge D50) and went to remove the rear plate to ...

Running carbs - No distributor?
Guys,
There is no distributor per-se on the DOHC, but there is some sort of thing at the back of the head - how do I get that to trigger my ignition? I have a points-style-converted-to-a-pcikup-sensor setup (one trigger wire running to an MSD box then to a distributor via single coil - MSD 6 ...

A couple questions about 2.3L stroker...
...My original plan of using a 4G64 SOHC fell down the tubes (again) but I will not be discouraged, for I have the following parts:
1x 1987 6 Bolt (Hyundai Stellar) 2.0L block
1x 1989 G4CS (Hyundai Sonata) 2.4L crank
1x 1991 4G67 (Hyundai Elantra) 1.8L head

1987 Hyundai Pony 4G64 SOHC
I'm back, albeit I doubt anyone remembers me: I had (at the time) dreams of putting in a G54B into a Pony... Well, those dreams were shattered yesterday when I drive 1.5 hrs one way to a wreckers to see an "Astron" from a 1986 Caravan - It had the weirdest water pump setup I had ever seen, which was ...

FS: Dodge D-50 4G64 RWD EFI intake manifold SOHC
So I've finally picked up this engine (my Saturn 4G32 bit the dust at Mosport last year) to upgrade into my Hyundai Pony. It is from a 1991 EFI Dodge D-50.

While I wait for my 4G64 to return from the shop, I am going to be doing this. Not a 4G63 or 4, but a 4G32.

I've only ever seen one 4G32 belt driven... it was in a guy's slammed pony pickup truck (also carbed) that he had swapped in.
The 4G32 and 4G33 (as well as the 1.2L version, I think 4G36) that were used in the Pony/Stellar are ALL chain-driven. I've not ever seen a belt drive in a Pony otherwise ...

The pictures are really bad, the head is actually decent. The bearings that are damaged are the ones that form "caps", the top part if you will: It's not a problem for me to go out and grab these two parts, a cam, two rockers and a couple lifters (for good measure, just in case)

yeah you read my mind, I went to eBay and looked at 1994 elantra gaskets and 1994 Laser/Eclipse gaskets - the very same.
The head was off a 6 bolt, as is the block. My friend (turbo stellar) thinks they may be the same too, but not the 1.6 it has a different water pump and all.

Cam equivalency question
I'm aggresively dismantling the head as it is going to a shop to get cleaned up, plained and a valve job done. During the dismantling process, two cam bearings were found to be worn to the touch, as well as two rollers were quite hard to operate. Also, I don't know what these are called, but they're ...

Interesting... I too have a stellar (1987, so it uses the counterbalanced SOHC 4G63 2.0), and on top of all that, I have a 1984 Pony (not available in the US) WITH THAT SOHC 4G63 in it! I had no problems putting in the 4G63 where the 4G32 was: everything bolted right in! The stock Pony mounts were ...
