A couple questions about 2.3L stroker...

Post by Jed118 »

...My original plan of using a 4G64 SOHC fell down the tubes (again) but I will not be discouraged, for I have the following parts:

1x 1987 6 Bolt (Hyundai Stellar) 2.0L block
1x 1989 G4CS (Hyundai Sonata) 2.4L crank
1x 1991 4G67 (Hyundai Elantra) 1.8L head

I've decided to feed it with two DCOE Weber 45's.

I realize I need pistons to make this all work. What measurements do I need to give in order to select the appropriate pistons? I plan on custom grinding some cams (a bit more lift and overlap) as well as a 9.5ish compression ratio.

I am as of yet unsure what the piston pin diameter is, but all else being equal, can anyone tell me what measurements I need to take?

Pin Diameter will come from the rods you use.

2.0 and 2.4 rods use .827 in. diameter.

The non forum project zero g page specifies 6mm offset pins. They would be offset further up to account for the long stroke crank. If you google 2.3 4g63 stroker I am sure you can find the pistons for sale and exact numbers. The 4g63 stroker seems to be pretty common these days.

THE PINS ARE NOT OFFSET AS THAT USUALLY REFERS TO THE POSITION OF THE PIN WHEN LOOKING AT THE TOP OF THE PISTON.
WITH STROKER PISTONS THE PIN IS MOVED 6MM=1/2 OF THE INCREASE IN STROKE CLOSER TO THE CROWN/TOP OF THE PISTON SO THE PISTON IS LEVEL WITH THE TOP OF THE BLOCK AT TDC

PS sorry about the caps must learn to check before typing
