Pilot bearing?
Sounds like it could possibly be a locked up pilot bearing. I had one that was intermittently locking up on me that did the same thing, but I was able to force it to release by standing on the brakes.
Sounds like a tranny R+I is in your future.

Sounds to me that you are just running the car hot. The Pressure is comming from the hot fluid expanding-- just like ti does in any other coolant system (aka-- thats why we have presure relieving coolant caps).

Use ARP head studs from this point on. Also, go ahead and get a Mitsubishi Multi-Layer Head Gasket. Those are 2 upgrades that can be reused if you ever need to take the head off again.
The stock head gasket is not re-useable and the head bolts can stretch. It will cost you $200 now, but will save ...

Before you put your allen or t-30 socket into the bolt, dip the head of the socket into valve lapping compound-- this will give it alittle more traction. If you are gonna hammer in anything oversized-- I would strongly recomend hammering in a T-30 (or w/e size is required) into the allen head first ...

I've seen some igntion swtiches cause this. The ignition feed while in the start postion fails, but is ok in the On positon.

I was searching the Marlin Crawler website and found something that looks like it will greatly help those wanting to use electronic speedometers when completing a Toyota tranny swap. Check out the VSS at the very bottom of this link.

Re: Very interested.
The Pistons are .003 over, its a custom size so I could straighten out the cylinder, but not go .010 over and compromise the already thin bore/HG area. Also, they are the retarded strong 1400hd's with the optional think walled wrist pins.
The head has since been switched with a rebuild stock unit ...

Crank walk is still a mystery. I know many people running high pressure clutches on stock 7 bolt bottom ends. The issue mostly seems to come from the piston oil squirters, but there is an issue with the thrust bearing as well. This can be resolved, and there are companies offering solutions. They ...

Also, if you're looking for 2.4L engines, stick with the 7-bolt types. The 6-bolt does not have the main cap bracing that is part of the turbo engines.
So, you would trade "crank walk" to have little extra bracing on an already overbuilt bottom end?? Why not just add a girdle to the bottom end to ...
