Mazda Bell/input shaft measurements - b2600 info?

Post by FE3tMX5 »

I'm working on a OE bolt in solution to put the R trans in my FE-dohc (FE3) powered Miata. I've currently got a Bongo van bellhousing with a Turbo II transmission bolted up, but the input shaft is too short to sufficiently engage the clutch disc splines. I believe there's a B2600 input shaft that would work, since I know of one bolted up in NZ using a similar clutch and flywheel. But given there are different shafts for different years, I'm not sure of where to go next. If anybody might have some measurements for the B2600 input shafts and years, post up. I've included info I have on some other Mazda trans arrangements, including use of adapter plate for mounting the R to Mazda B engine. thx-rob

measurements

Local mazda yard let me go through and take some measurements. They're close, but not exact. Turns out the RX7 TII has the longest (exposed) shaft and splines of those I looked at. It's been confirmed that the 929 is shorter, and the MPV manual R trans is rare item.
