you have to have a cylinder head on hand to know which and where to drilll...

if you have an original SOHC 4G63 cylinder head gasket, you could compare the holes with the DOHC cylinder head.

you will want to use the SOHC cylinder head gasket.

4G63 SOHC --> DOHC pistons

Hi!
I'm going for this swap using a 4G63 SOHC turbo <Starion/JDM early Galant Turbo> block with a DOHC GVR4 head.
What pistons will I need to use?
Will the SOHC pistons fit and not have any clearance issues with the DOHC head and valves.
Thanks.

The starter housing plate is the same for the Galant VR4s and EvoI~IIIs Bill.

allan, you moved the engine forward about 1" or?
and you're using the galant 5spd?

i did not move the engine forward, but i had to reshape the firewall to make space for the CAS.

basically i mounted the transmission in its proper mounts to the body, and worked my way from there.

yes, i'm using ...

hey allan, so your design had no issues with the pulley's?

no it didn't

i don't know if the pic below helps, but it sits approx 15mm above the bigger WP pulley, even has room to change belts

the l200 and starion gearboxes have the bigger bellhousings

the vr4/evo blocks won't match

best bet is a rebuild or use the dohc head on the sohc block

uk's lancer register might be of help too...
