If I find a galant at the yard I'll pick one of those up since my radiator is higher. Although I do like to have the cap in back so I can fill the radiator to a certain point with the cap in back removed and thus letting air out. If that even really helps when filling, I'm not sure...

SOHC thermostat housing water outlet
I was at the junk yard and noticed the SOHC engines have a different thermostat housing water outlet, one that would clear the firewall a lot better. So, I bought it and tried it out. It fits to the thermo housing just the same as the DOHC part, but doesn't sit angled towards the firewall like the ...

Hey Alex. I emailed you about 5-6 months ago asking if you still had the old pics of the bimmubishi build. I'm pretty much done with mine, but only have about 150 miles on it because I keep finding things to fix at this point.

I ran across that website about a week ago and thought it was a great idea. It seems like great stuff. But, there's no way I'm going to spend over $100 on coolant and then have to keep extra on hand because it can't be contaminated with other fluids. Not at this time.

I created my cooling system according to Bill's diagram. I ran the engine today for about 8 minutes, allowing the engine to warm up to 190 degrees before I turned it off. I don't currently have the radiator fan connected to a relay, as well as, having that circuit configured to turn on at a certain ...

I emailed Alex a few months ago to see if he could get me his old Bimmubishi photos. At this point I'm far enough along in my swap, but they would still be interesting to check out.

Driveshaft question
I am planning to have the forward segment of the 2-piece driveshaft modified. Is it bad to have a slip yoke on each end of this one segment of driveshaft? I notice most of them have a slip yoke on one end and a plate with bolts on the other.

As of last night I have a complete clutch. It's installed on the engine and the engine is in the car. I tested the clutch pedal and it's working. Turbo pistons or not?
This is off topic... but I'm too curious not to ask. I ordered used stock 1G turbo pistons and rods. I still haven't gotten them, but what appearance differences should there be? Supposedly the lands are larger and so there would be more space between the rings, but I don't see it in the photos of ...

Bill, the megasquirt is a LOT of work. Once I get mine setup right and running good I will have to find the time to do a writeup.
The biggest complication is the ignition. Here is a writeup on all that just to get you an idea of what's (partially) involved: http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_articles ...

That wiki site is pretty useful... I've never had to put any thought into making a custom coolant system before. The more information the better.
I checked www.bavauto.com to see their prices on that thermostat and they have them listed for $20. I wouldn't have guessed they'd have it cheaper. You ...

W58 Shifter extension
Here's what I made over the weekend. After getting the bell housing mounted and playing with the engine's position I realized that the shifter position was way too far forward (i think i'd be shifting right into the console) I decided I had to extend it back. I used a mapp torch, aluminum welding ...

Hello,
To help keep my project moving I'm wondering if anyone has any stock clutch parts that they would let go for reasonable prices? I don't care if they are old and used so long as they will bolt up and I can make a document on fitting Bill's bell housing. So, if you have any parts just sitting ...

If you can get 2 inches off from the starting point that would be great. Also, if you can bring it up a bit in that area (hopefully without hurting the oil flow--of course, it will help having the turbo return line where I want it).

Oil pan modifications... any suggestions?
Hello,
So, what I want to do is remove a portion of the oil pan and weld in a piece of stainless steel that is shaped differently. The point would be to allow more oil pan clearance around the stearing rack and be able to get the engine a little lower (to get those cam pulleys to clear the hood and ...

I'm definitely putting together a megasquirt (using the msns-e code) for my e30/4g63, but then again, I've built one for a lancer evo 8 so this will be easy. The first and even second time building one it can get very frustrating when it comes to implementing it in your car.
