This is off topic... but I'm too curious not to ask. I ordered used stock 1G turbo pistons and rods. I still haven't gotten them, but what appearance differences should there be? Supposedly the lands are larger and so there would be more space between the rings, but I don't see it in the photos of the turbo pistons...
For reference, these pistons are from my non-turbo 1G '90 6-bolt "eclipse" motor:
My guess is that the only difference is the dish in the piston.. but that's just a guess.
Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
1G Turbo pistons are 7.8:1. Non-Turbo are 9:1. According to Chilton's the 1st ring groove width is 1.21-1.23mm turbo and 1.22-1.24 non turbo. The only other difference is the piston to cylinder clearance. There will be a noticable piston relief on the turbo pistons. The non-turbo's are flat with valve reliefs only. (i think)
