Thanks a bunch DJ! If it wasn't for you prodding, I would have been assed out. Definitely was ready to call it a day and wait till tomorrow. I haven't remove the engine yet. For those that don't know, I drove my 06 impala and the trunk is how I transported the block. LOL Will attempt to get it out ...

What day are you going to Crazy Rays? I can go in the mornings if you want to go together. I'll have to be back at work in B'more at 3PM though. It won't be the first time I've come straight from the junkyard to the office.
That's tight DJ. I'm looking to go either Friday or Saturday. Most likely ...

Today I took my fist step towards 63/64 project. I purchased the entire topend from a dsm guy for 3oo. should have it by friday. next is sourcing a WB g64, but have'nt been able to get to crazy rays yet. I may be able to get the eagle /wiseco combo at a slight discount from the guy I bought the 63 ...

Anyway top determine if a block has been overheated? I doubt the seller will dispose that info. honestly.Bill Hincher wrote:just dont buy anything that has been badly overheated, you can replace the crank and bearings, but you cant put the 'temper' back into the core, if the engine was badly overheated, its junk

you know, I envy you guys who are capable, through experience, of assembling an engine. I think that is the ultimate rush knowing you can go out pick up a piece of shit and 2 weeks later know it will be pushing what you want it to. Not worrying about how many miles is on the engine. i think I'll ...

I've seen people spend 5x the amount they had to on an engine only to have it blow up due to some external problem that would have happened regardless. They could have built 5 for the same price had they avoided all the little stupid things that 50 years of machine shops have convinced people they ...

You always started the work with dip clean and magnifluxing, then you would 'line bore' the mains and re bore the cylinders making sure the cylinders were exactly perpendicular to the crankshaft, and the crank is in a true straight bore, then depending on the size of your piston ,you would set your ...

I assume the ss would fall apart, but a cast I figured would stand up especially since the only thing being cut and rewelded is the mani to head flange. How often are the flanges for sale on the questclub site? I'd love to have a custom header but I've never welded nor can I afford someone doing the ...

has anyone attempted cutting the flange off and turning the many upside down and rewelding for a top mount? would that work?
Or maybe closing the bottom and welding turbo flange up top?

I am pretty much decided on the wiseco piston for my g64/g63 hybrid however, what's the deal on cp pistons?

Concerning the 4g64 wide block, I am still trying to decide on the wiseco/ eagle combo or the wiseco/ scat combo. Meanwhile what work do you guys recommend getting done to the block itself. BTW, This is for the g64/g63 hybrid and will be using the g64 crank in a rear wheel config. Is there a flat ...

Yes and No. take for instance the first site you linked me to regarding cam gear and timing. That link tells and labels the parts that will need to be changed but it doesnt state what to replace them with. The tranny was very informing because it gave me choices to go with that WILL work. I assume ...

I've been doing a lot of researching and reading on this site and I'm coming across some issues that haven't really been concluded such as the timing situation concerning the difference in 63 and 64 cam gears, flywheel/tranny/starter combination. and a ton of other stuff. some of the posts touch on ...
