was that engine N/A origionally? if so, it's probably a whole lot of sucky. probably no oil squirters.

that may be a steel bushing that you can tap out with a hammer. tap on the side and see if it starts to loosen.

BTW, if it was a N/A motor, it's a 420A and 100% not built for boost.

My latest motor is from a 91 Auto.. it too had a protrustion from the crank. Tap it laterally a few times, get some vicegrips or stuff grease in it and put a rod in the hole and use hydraulic pressure to get it out.

It should come out. Mine came out with just a few taps.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

knock that thing out of there. and your motor is not a 4g63. its a 2.4 g4cs if im not mistaken. i thought only the 90-92 sonatas had them. oh well. anyways, those cranks (if its a 2.4) are actually stronger than the 2.0 turbo cranks so youll be fine. just knock that thing out of there.

are you kidding me?

have you done that yet?

just go out there with a hammer and hit the protrustion from the side, it will come out, use a large flatblade screwdriver to pry it out if you must.

there is a 99.99 % chance i'm right. maybe even higher.

I just grouned the piece of crap off.
thats a real bad idea. the crank is balanced. take the time and do it right. half assing it will screw you in the end.

Then I ground on it for 30 minutes and tossed the flywheel on. I don't thikn there will be a big issue with the offsetting the balance.
well good luck. hopefully the balance shafts will help you out.
