Today I spent lots of money ($3995 + 205 in fees) on a really really nice Miata. Its a 1994 1.8L manual transmission Sport Package with the Torsion LSD. Everything on it looks mint, even the inside of the valve cover. I'm not replacing the trusty festiva, but wanted something I could take a girl out on a date in and generally not be laughed at as I drove through town.
Here are some BIG pictures:

New Daily Driver - Miata!

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

I was reading the same site where I got the B2600 / RX7 Model R info: http://members.aol.com/solomiata/Drivetrain.html
The Miata has a "Model M" transmission. My car is a 94 and according to this site has a stronger rear end and it uses a Torsion LSD compared to the earlier year's clutch differential (carried over from the NA RX7).
The diff that I have was also used by Honda for the S2000 only it has a clutch disc for preloading the worm gears and beefier half shafts and a slightly different case. Pre94 Miata Diff < Miata Diff < S2000 Diff < Nissan R200 Diff

What makes you think they were laughing at the Festiva and not the driver??DJpowerHaus wrote:I'm not replacing the trusty festiva, but wanted something I could take a girl out on a date in and generally not be laughed at as I drove through town.

it just happens that my escort has a 1.8 mazda motor, im pretty sure they are the same motors. if iim right, in the uk they made that motor with 180 hp turbo. the usd version is almost the same. my race car escort has 200k on the motor and it just won a second chapionship and has been on the track for 3 season.
and if you need a head to beef up, well i got like 12 motors,
