84' Nissan 200sx turbo 4G63 swap
Hey guys i'm new to the forums but i've talked to a few of you on AIM.
But for those of you that i haven't talked to the new project I plan on building is a 4G powered 240sx.

Plans have changed since I posted last, i've sold the Talon that I was going to use the motor out of and instead of getting the 240 shell I was going to get I picked up a 84' Nissan 200sx turbo. The plans are still the same if I can find a good 4G cheap enough to start pilling up parts for.
Here are a few pics of the car.

dont forget about the thermostat housing which could turn out to be the biggest bitch of them all.SWVADR!FT wrote:More then likely either the w-58 or r-154
It's already got a strong rear end so that won't be an issue.
It's basically gonna be, custom motor mounts, oil pan, intake manifold, the cooling system, and the wiring and it should be alright.

Figured someone would finally do a 4G in a nissan. I too am doing one in my 240sx. Based on the large number of measurements I took the 4G63 will sit in almost the exact place a KA24E would. Just use the mighty max brackets and stock 240sx motor mounts. You'll want to modify the pan a bit as its a tight fit and the sump on the oilpan hangs below the crossmember.

So what are you doing for suspension on the 200sx? I'll try and dig up some photo's of my roommate's old 200sx we 'setup' for ~$150

You might want to try to use a RWD pickup truck (2.0 or 2.4) oil pan. The pan is flat and doesn't hang as low. I'll snap some pictures tomorrow so everyone can compare.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
Does the RWD pickup pan clear the girdled mains of the 4g63?DJpowerHaus wrote:You might want to try to use a RWD pickup truck (2.0 or 2.4) oil pan. The pan is flat and doesn't hang as low. I'll snap some pictures tomorrow so everyone can compare.
I used a pan from an l300 van, in order to have the pan not protrude down past the crossmember, but i found that the pan in its stock condition would not clear the main caps on the DOHC 4g63 because of the girdle between them, i therefore spent a long time modifying it and was never fully happy with the results, if there is a bolt on that clears i woul be most interested to know.
Cheers,
Dan

modifying the pan is cake, I've built a few pans from scratch, its not that hard if you've got some time, basic tools, and a welder.
I'll post pics of what im doing to mine this weekend.
As for your S13 front suspension swap, have you looked into the rear of the S12? If you plan on drifting this car I'd highly recommend getting rid of your 200sx and starting with the tried true drifting solution known as the S13.
The rear of the S12 is a trailing arm setup identical to the Z31 300zx, and the 280ZX as well as being nearly identical to the Datsun 510. Simply put, its garbage. The easiest solution to making it do what you want it to is to use very high spring rates to limit travel back there
You'll also have to move the trailing arm mounting points to achieve a decent alignment if you plan on lowering the car at all.

Here is that pic of the oil pans that I promised:

The inside of the RWD pan has much to be desired though:

(My FWD pan is banged up to clear my 240SX crossmember.. I have lowered the car.. or should I say.. raised the crossmember.)
