that cooling system unloads the coolant from both ends of the head into the intake manifold, judging from the port size' the coolant exits pretty fast out of the head but is restricted by the thermostate before it enters the radiater. I think the coolant exits that I worked out will be fine for two reasons, One, I was right about restricting the front and opening up the rear, two, I was right about allowing the coolant to exit quickly from the head and put the restricion of the thermostate AFTER the radiater.
the proof will be in the pudding
BABIES!
its all worth while, you work your ass off and worry about them all the time, hope for the best for them and in return? they borrow your car and wreck it then tell you that you are stupid for not having insurance!
WOW! thats even greater news! the rear outlet goes to the heater core? WOW! that means they are routing the coolant from the back to the front and then dumping coolant out the front side exit. Just exactly like we drew it up!
Thanks Kane
i have a junk doch head that i cut up to look at the water passages. i sent the pics to dj and matt. i will have to find the peices of the head and take more pics, if you want them.
what a nice port job, probally hurt it more than i helped it.
hi
Have an sohc wideblock im gonna builld dohc on.
My block does not have thos two holes drilled at the front of the block
Are they important to have? or can you skip thos with the dohc head on??
I restricted the front 2 holes by taping corresponding holes in the DOHC head and using a plug with a 1/8" hole drilled into it. The idea of this is to let air bubbles out of the jacket. I also drilled holes in the back of the DOHC head to correspond with the 3 sided holes in the back of the block. The idea of this is to coax the water from the water pump, back through the block, up through the back to the head and back to the front to come out my front water neck.
Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
