W58 Shifter extension

Here's what I made over the weekend. After getting the bell housing mounted and playing with the engine's position I realized that the shifter position was way too far forward (i think i'd be shifting right into the console) I decided I had to extend it back. I used a mapp torch, aluminum welding rods, and 1/8" thick aluminum from the hardware store. It actually works and it's very rigid.

Unfortunately I left the bushing at the hardware store when I was looking for a sleave to take up the extra slack around it.

Oh well, I ordered a new one from www.marlincrawler.com that's probably better than stock anyways.

thats pretty cool but by doing that did it reverse the shift patern? like 1st is 2nd and 2nd is 1st

It's just an extension of the existing arm so it's still the same shift pattern.
