I'm pretty sure the 99 is not the same. At least not in the traditional sense. It probably is a 4G64, but I think it faces the other side of the car. Not sure when they made the transition. I know they made the turbo 4G63 in the Eclipse in 99, so it might just be the same. If you look a the EVO, the timing side is on the pass side of the car. It's still a 4G63, but very different. It may still work, you'll just want to make sure the DOHC head will fit properly.

That doesnt mean you couldnt do it. You'd just have very limited options as far as flywheels. You could certainly use a 7 bolt truck flywheel.
Still not sure if the Evo block is narrow or wide. 25 years of observation shows that the transverse setup has a narrowblock, but who knows. The evo does have a 240mm clutch disk. This probably doenst mean it uses a wider bellhousing though, but who knows. Still researching.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

I was under the impression that the answer to that question is common knowledge. It is a narrowblock. This is mentioned to no end around the site. Is there anything I could add to the site to make this more clear?
Do you think this swap would be this hard if the DSM engine came with the same bellhousing as a Starion?

The reason I posted what I did was to see what I could do to improve the site. For the last few days I've been writing new pages here and there and updating some of the old ones. Its hard for me to see what's missing from a newcomer's perspective after being waist deep in this stuff for 4 years.

That's correct. If you're putting it in a Talon you'll need a narrowblock so dont even bother looking at the Mightmax trucks. The Van, Expo and Sonata should all have 2.4L 6 bolt narrowblocks (if my sources are correct).
