Mazda Tranny Gurus

Post by PapioGXL »

I need some help. I'm trying to mate an engine up to the turbo Mazda RX-7 tranny, but because of the bellhousing, the input shaft splines barely engage with the clutch disk.

I saw on the main site a brief mention of the B2600 transmission having a slightly longer input shaft, which, if true, would be ideal for what I need. I basically need about 3/4 of an inch longer of splines on the input shaft.

Can anybody confirm this for me? If so, anybody have an input shaft to ship me? :D

That seems like it would be more difficult than just swapping input shafts. The engine I'm planning on swapping in (VW VR6 12V) has a 10 bolt flywheel that is hub centric, and 1 bolt is slightly offset to locate the fly correctly. I'm also having trouble finding a machine shop willing to work with me on this. :?

Interesting swap. What is it going in?

How about machining down both ends of your bellhousing a little?

The problem with machining down the flywheel is that it would throw the geometry of the clutch fork off, as well as cause the starter to jam. :?

Its going in an FC RX-7. :D
