4G64 into EVO 2

Post by caged »

After having great success (300whp) with my single cam 4G64 l300 van I have decided to build a 64 for my evo 2. I am from Newzealand and the majority of 4G64 narrow blocks came from the Mitsubishi Chariot. I am having trouble finding an early one that has the engine layout the same as the evo. Is it possible to use the later model one (1996-00 Gasoline Direct Injection) where the engine is mounted 180'degrees? I plan on using an early VR4 galant or evo 1,2 head. will the provisions for the front mount (Timing cover) still be the same? any help would be appreciated.

Pretty damn hard to find an old 4g64 block in NZ. A friend of mine used the wide block and modified the gearbox by chopping off some of the gearbox housing and welding big alloy blocks in the posistion of bolt holes. drilling through and wala.
