Indeed it is Bill. I chose to use the bigger bell/pan fill trans on there so if i need to swap between the 2 I know they will both fit. On my custom flex plate I will order it with both small and large bolt patterns so if I need to use a case fill with smaller bell I can do so. I realise I will have ...

Im not going to use a chevy flexplate now. there was that in mind but what ive decided to do is get a custom flexplate made with 4g holes drilled in but NOT any other holes ie ford or chevy. the rest of the flexplate will be as a C4 / sbf detail, so in theory it will bolt directly to the crank with ...

It dont matter what flywheel you get, the 153 or the 167, they all have the same center, so all you can use is the ring gear[/quote]

Would the starter positions be different in the plate with differing flex plate diameters? Or is it possible to leave the starter to sit in the bell and have ...

No Bill flex plate is not a problem. Ill sort a flex plate myself, what i need from you should you wish to do is an adapter plate from engine to C4 with correct starter location and as said 164 tooth is my preference but 157 is fine too. Ill need to get an SFI plate made custom anyway.
The flex ...

Sorry about your wife Bill I hope it can be eased as much as possible for her.

7 bolt crank
If your GM plate could be drilled for SBF pattern instead of GM and the starter position could be made to work with Ford dimensions that would suit me best.
Ive got to get a custom flexplate made either way ...

Ok I get it now Bill, That means there is a 3rd 4g64 pattern. Its the same as Evo.
Jez has posted pics for me in the other thread. These bolt patterns (my 64 and evo 8) are 100% the same as far as mounting holes and dowel positions. My block came from a mitsi spacewagon which is kind of van/mpv ...

Thanks for that Jez :D

Bill, If we could get an adapter plate made that takes the C4 (SBF PATTERN), It would give the choice of which bell housing people want to use ie stock or SFI approved.

The starter position would obviously need to be added to the plate to suit the C4 position.
This only ...

Bill, are you saying there are wide block, narrow block AND EVO?
Where are the differences?
My 4g64 bolt pattern looks the same as the evo pic you put up. So Jez on here that you did a bell to fit the r154 ... does that bell only fit evo and nothing else?

cheers

Im not sure if there is a preference for my needs but ill dig about for some info on pro's and cons. As mine will be on the back of the 4g i can adapt as needed.

Any other C4 users fancy this conversion?

I have been asked for the C4 ford set up, but nobdy ever follows through on it, I need to know which C4 is popular

Probably me on pm :D

As far as C4's go post '70 is better. These are known as pan fills as opposed to case fills from pre 70.

The pan fills have the bell bolted to the perimeter ...

Set the base pressure to 3 bar (45psi approx) while ignition is on before running and recheck when its running to allow for the battery charge feeding the pump. Thn just leave it there dyno or not.
