Good progress, but those wheels are terrible. I sure do miss this thing.

FS '76 Dodge Colt

Looking to see what is out there for my Dodge Colt. I love this car to death, but with my current financial state would rather have something I can do on a budget. I also miss my old '89 Colt nearly every day.

Anywho, I am the second owner of this car. It has around 103k on the odo. It was ...

Dave gave me a ride in this thing at the DSM SO. One of the coolest vehicles I have ever ridden in. It's not even the exhaust that gets ya, its the BOV right next to your ear. Haha

Agreed. Bill keep doing what you are doing. I think the 3 options you offer for manual transmissions are plenty.

Good info. I wonder why more people don't go this route. Is there anyone on the board currently running their cooling system this way?

Bill, have you actually tested this, or is it all just theory and speculation?

Agreed. Until I find some solid data I will probably just stick with my plan to run it off the back of the head. I am hoping to run it under the IM like JP did, but I'm not sure about clearance. Anwho, here is a pic of that Challenger:

I have no personal experience, but I spoke with a guy at the DSM Shootout with that purple Challenger who runs his that way. He actually runs the factory t-stat housing off the front of the head with a custom setup. He told me he drives his car on the street a LOT and has had no issues. I don't know ...

Ray, your goals seem very similar to mine. I have had an 8.8 sitting around for sometime now, and will be throwing it in this winter. I am still unsure as to whether or not I will be going with just a simple ladder-bar setup or full 4-link.

I also plan on doing a little old school jdm mixed with ...

I would love to be able to run a twin-disk on my Colt. If that means making a casting for an AWD, than I am all for it.

On another note, if I choose to go with a r154 for my build rather than a t56, that is only available for FWD flywheels, correct?

I'd venture to say you can't really consider cams the same thing as n2o. n2o is a power adder, like a turbo or supercharger. Cams just help to maximize the efficiency of said power adder.

As of right now the car does not sit at my house. I have not had the time to measure anything underneath the car to see what will fit.

Interesting...I will have to do some measuring when I get the chance. I would LOVE to not have to do anything crazy to fit a big tire. I will be building this car primarily for the street, but might want to throw on a slick occasionally. I imagine one of the reasons Peregrine mini-tubbed his car was ...

I'm not giving it to the drag god. I just want to be able to squeeze something like a 9-10" wide Work Equip 01 with a really low offset (or 02 if I find one! yeah right) so that I can have decent traction and a ballin' lip.

Those wheels look killer on there. Are Nissan struts a common upgrade for these? I really wanted something nice like a Koni, but there isn't much out there for a '70s Colt.

I actually plan on running an 8.8 that I have lying around. I will probably narrow it and mini-tub the back of the car so that I can fit some nice wide street tires on there.

I can't say that it has NO rust. There is some under the rear window, but it is only surface.

And I was running the factory KM210 in my hatch. That car saw wheelspin daily in 3rd and in 4th on race gas, so I'm sure the clock was ticking. That car is currently in pieces and has been put on hold ...

n00b with Colt

Hello! I just picked up a vintage Colt and can't wait to throw a 4G63 in it. I am very excited to play around with a RWD 4G63 project. I have had plenty of DSM's in the past (1g, 2g, Galant, CSM, you name it), so 4G's aren't anything new to me. My last toy was a Colt GT that some of you may have ...
