Cable clutch to Hydraulic conversion in 1974 Dodge Colt

I've decided to go with a 2.6L Starion swap into my 74' Colt. I bought a running 87 Starion donor last week, It'll need a new turbo (I'm going with a super 16G) and putting forged pistons in it when I rebuild it.

More pressing right now is the Colt KM132 box was cable and the Starion KM132-N box is ...

That's quite an awesome itineary Mike !

I'm a little hurt that you're skipping my home country of Denmark, though. :o

As for the Canary Islands - Tenerife is like Waikiki in Hawaii, but the nightlife is great. If you're going to Tenerife, rent yourself a Peugoet 206 (or similar) and drive around ...

Electrical

I'll be the first to admit that i know very little about the workings of ECU's, trigger wheels, etc... I even had to google "CAS" to learn what you guys are talking about.

My car is old school with a set of dual 48mm downdrafts, some guage wires, lights, accessory rally odo, etc... *simple*

I want ...

aztattoojoe,

I'm a newbie on this forum just like you. In fact I know very little about doing a swap but it's something I want to do. Many of the questions you seek have already been answered on this forum in a variety of places.

In reading alot of the threads here I find that people don't like ...

The front rotors are a from a saab 900 turbo with toyota 4x4 4 pot calipers (the steering is a 2.1 turn lock to lock saab rack)

The rears calipers / rotors are from a volvo turbo (the diff. is a 5 link dana 30 from a volvo)

Where do you think the clearance issue will be ?

The pics are of a G54, which correct if I'm wrong shares the same bellhousing pattern that fits the G63 as well as motor mount location.

Another area of concern is the steering linkage to the rack (I'll post pics of this in the next couple of days ...

What a great and informative thread - thanks Bill !

I'm not sure what the best way (most economical) is to go :

1.) Buy a running donor car

or

2.) Buy a 4G63T by itself

Does anyone make / sell a harness ? I just need the bare essentials, as emmision control devices is not of concern and all my ...

1974 Dodge Colt - 4G63T Project

I have a 1974 dodge Colt rally car that I bought 3 years ago. It was built into SCCA rally use in 1987, and is somewhat of an anomoly in that it has a conundrum of parts on it.

The current powerplant (in pieces - again !) is a 4G54 that was destroked using a crank from a 4G52. Using Mahle aircooled ...

Thanks Bill !

I'm using the Colt for stage rally racing and the tranny would get lots of abuse. I'd like the 4G63T to put 280 - 300HP / and the same torque to the rear wheels. Of course more power would be nice when the car isn't on stage.

The W55... would it be suitable for rally type abuse ...

I've been following this thread for a while and am in need for advice on what's the best transmission (least amount of modifications) for my 1974 dodge Colt to mate a 4G63T to.

The car is currntly set up for a normally aspirated 4G54.
