Bill,
I see you have never worked with a race engine shop that wants to know if an engine will be run with a 160 Tstat, no tstat or a hot one.
It matters more on larger bores and alloy cylinders.
It does matter to an engine builder that knows what he is doing.

This was not a good weekend. i hope he takes the time to port the front cover and filter assembly before re-assembling the engine this time.

At our track events oil down is not a good thing. Now at a drifting event is it good? Naa probably makes it damn inconsistent to drive.

The really rich part would be a low MAP reading with the failed gasket.
This could be lean when in boost.

A low oil level should show up in the rod bearings first and as a high oil temp, if monitored.
I can not see the upper bearing shells to look for a color change.
There is very little oil needed ...

I have not had a chance to get in here for a bit.
It is common for detonation in #2 cylinder. Why #2 I do not know but this is the fourth engine I have seen with a hot #2. Was the sparkplug loose in that cylinder when you got to it?
In your case you just found out what aftermarket intake gaskets ...

My delrin sleeve is snug inside the TOB. Just make sure the inside of the TOB does not slide with the bearing to do this. Otherwise it needs to slide free.
Nice that you can anchor it well with two studs.

It is common for cells to be 9" deep, With a flat floor in the trunk the cell may nestle up under it fine.
I cut through the floor in my Colt and set an ATL cell down in with 1" box tube frame around it.

Definition of a simple swap.

The bore and stroke are the same, it is the previous G52 that has the differant bore.
You should just put the turbo engine in, not just a head swap.

I turned a Delrin sleeve for the new bearing to center over. I do use a step to set the height.
Some of the bearings the inner tube needs to slide and some it is part of the housing. This should determine the final design.

The iron part comes right off but it is needed since it is the bearing retainer.
You will want to turn a sleeve for the new TOB to slide snugly over the guide tube, this will be used to set the height.
Then something needs to prevent rotation other than the hoses.

It looked like a short crossmember, I had seen the conversion to the Nissan knuckles but I see you did a bunch of work to set the rollcenter where you wanted it.

Have you checked the total height allowed for the TOB, some times this is an issue, I have not set up a stock style clutch with one.
I have set up the Starion with a 7 1/4 double plate and stock bearing and that was not an issue.

The dimensions I find important are at the ball end in the boots. The outer ends are easy to run a 14mm die down and shorten them to suit the car they are going in.

Granted that 16lbs is from the best spot to add ballast... but anyways Very Happy. How much stronger are the D50 Flange / u-joint setup compared to the stock flange and u-joint?

I agree, it is the last spot to remove weight from a car. I finally made the decision for the overall weight reduction ...

There is a crown to the face, it is the diameter at the high point, call it center of the face.
I just measured 4 race type TOB and they are all .55 to .7 travel that I have here.

The throw needed really matters as to what disc you run, If you use a puck type then 3/8 is fine. If you use a Centerfarce then 3/4 may not be enough.

No one seems to rate check aftermarket springs before putting them in, Marketing says there stiffer, funny the small diameter wire made me question that. Plus that was the era of stupid progressive rates. They start 40% softer and rise to 20% softer.

Are you aware of the fact that ST springs are considerably softer than the original ones? You are better off cutting the original springs to lower the car rather than aftermarket on these.
Check the parking brake cables to see if the calipers are allowed to return fully.
Then check for dragging ...

Possibly will. With a little fiddling the DSM pumps will sit in the Starion cradle. I helicoiled the 10mm holes down to work with the 8mm mounting. Then swap the pulleys.

If you are working with a power rack flipping them some time doesn't work. Most racks you can reindex the servo but the fitting into the cylinder can face weird directions.
But since you are working with a 510 I expect you are not going with a power rack. and it will be a similar swap as in my Colts ...

Pay attention to the different types of throughout bearings. You want one for a 7 1/4" race clutch. It will have the proper 44mm radius face to work with a Mitsu ...

It is a bit longer, I do not recall exactly but it was a shorter then DSMs and 3KGTs. The responsive quality as well as 2.1 turns is what I went for. Not to mention the fluid pipes can be worked with.
I want to get an MR2 rack to look at and am also interested in the 240 rack.

No it is rear steer still. The photos were taken for the brake mounts for a guy in N.Z. so they are not the right angle for the rack or lower arms.
The rack is mounted up snug to the crossmember, I have not taken picks of the pinion end or the column yet.

One place the MS can shine is on a Starion. Since the original ECU is fuel only it makes an easy setup, then you can lock the dizzy and map the timing.

I have the original DSM lookup tables, They are hiding at the moment but they are 12 X 12 just as MSX.

At this time it will not handle the Mitsu ISC. It will work with Bosch or Ford PWM valves.
I have made an adapter to mount a Ford valve in place of the thermo,ISC on the Mitsu.

You can not just reverse a CAS. Granted it looks like you could flop the dizzy over but the pickups are not symmetrical.
Been there, didn't work. I have made custom dizzys for running COP and it took a few tries to get it right.
