hey guys was tightening up my exhaust manifold and ended up stripping one of the studs off from inside the head, it just popped out with the nut on it lol
wats my best option retap the head a size bigger (its a custom manifold so i can just drill the hole in it bigger to suit the bolt) or drill it out then put a helicoil in?
just worried about how much room ive got inside the head etc
i could just drill it and tapp a m10 x1.25 if it wont go through the sides inside the head?if you know what i mean, i assume theres a heap of alloy around to allow me to make the hole bigger
what size do you drill the hole to tap it a m10
hardest thing is the fact that the engine is still in the car so access to the head etc isnt easy
stripped stud off from inside head

I've got at least 3 like that on my engine. Leaks like an old cunt. I'm probably going to tap them for a bigger stud while its in the car.
I'm also going to correct the original problem which was my exhaust manifold. The flange was warped and I tried to correct that by cranking down those end cylinders. Working on a Sch10 304 Stainless log manifold.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
