How would the idle raise with a bad TPS? You'd need more air to raise the idle.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

I thought my MAF sensor was bad after my truck would do the same thing, Swapped out MAF sensors and the same thing happened. Only problem was-- mine would do it intermittently, only when starting cold and not allowing it to slowly warm up. I ended up tracking it down to a faulty Idle air control motor that would intermittently go "open circuit" internally.

This is exactly the case--but in Limp home mode you can only rev to 2k.
