My crappy old colt

Post by tumuchNOS »

Here is something I started building about 7 years ago and started racing about august of 05. Its just a little old colt with a stock 4g63 and a mightymax trans that I threw together. It is from august of 05 and highlights a couple of many money making adventures from that week. There is a site link at the end that I have nothing to do with, it was just tagged on there by the guy that made the video. I would appreciate it if you wouldnt distribute this, I just thought you guys may enjoy watching a $2000.00 car with a 4g63 doing the dirty.

Oh, and here is some more from the next year. I had an 16g with a 6cm housing, stock motor and a little something something to help get er going. I lost the first race due to being in a hurry and not dialing my crap in, but later on in the vid I do OK against a pretty quick Bel Aire.

I realize its an old post but I just watched it for the first time. Couple comments:
First, I like the black? 62 Impala that was racing in the second video.
Secondly, I also like the 23 T-bucket looking car with the turbocharged Chevy? six in it. Is it a Chevy 230?

Yes, it is a friend of mine that wanted me to turbocharge his 1958 235 chevy L6 (stovebolt for us older folks) roadster. If you look real close its a 14B from my stock 4g63 with his custom intake/exhaust using a demon turbo carb. When it is warm it revs alot faster than in the video, its kind of disturbing actually. It will be at the LA roadster show next week, so look for it in the magazines. That 62 is pretty fast actually, when I raced him he was on the motor and trying to set up another car for a money race. On the jug I think he went high 9's before he sold it.

On that 235, are you just running an Edelbrock carburetor - set up for forced induction? Any issues with it running rich? Is the ignition stock? I have been considering doing this same thing to the 230 in my 64 Impala convertible. I think it would be a pretty awesome. I already have a M21 Muncie going in it as soon as the weather is a little warmer. You don't see too many straight six's with M21's on the back of them ;)

Its a demon 650 turbo carb. We rejetted it from 74's to 67's in the mains, and I have it set at 1 turn out on idle air adjustment on all 4 corners. Because we are at 4500 ft elevation I would think that I would start at a 71's squared at sealevel for the main and probably a 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns on the Idle air adjustment for a baseline. We havent done alot of testing as far as driving yet, but speaking from previous experience I would say that I will almost certainly have to change the airbleeds at least once on a blowthrough set up like this. I may need to increase the idle air restrictions in the metering block if it runs rich at idle, but because of the show he is attending I did'nt have enough time to evaluate it yet. I will post the results in general in order to keep from upsetting the admin, or they can move this crap as they see fit as it won't offend me.
