HELP!!!! Motor mount issues, dont know what the problem is??

Post by blue_crush »

i got the motor installed but i cant get it down far enough to bolt in. I dont know if i have the wrong mounts or what the deal is. Do i need the short mounts off of the conquest or the long ones?? heres some pics of the problem. Any help would be great.

well out of the two quest mounts one is longer with a steeper angle on it . and it seems to fit better, so im grinding the welds off of the shorter one and making the angle the same as the longer one. I dont know what else to do.

I wish I would have kept better records of what Mounts I've used to tell you which side they came off and what not. I'll have to dig my other mounts out of the shed and pull them off the white car and see what I really have.

On my first swap I know I used 2 left or right brackets, forget which. Post pictures of them next to each other I'll tell you which. I have no clue at all what's on the race car and have been fighting mounts since the beginning (240SX crossmember complicates things).

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

heres pics of the mounts.

First mount :was a short mount from the stock conquest, i cut the welds and rewelded it to match the last one.

Second mount :is a stock short mount from the quest.

Third mount : is a stock longer mount, i cut the bottom of it off ( about an inch or so) and drilled my own hole.

Also take notice, the first and third mounts have the new rubber mounts for the mighty max, the second is the old quest mount, the last one has a bit of a slant to it. im wondering if its not whats throwing me off.

I tried the 2 short mounts from the conquest, and was way off. The way i just explained put me very close but not close enough. I can seat either side with bolts, but the other will be about a half inch off.

Im confused, everyone who has done this just drops them in with no hassels  . besides the 240, that i can understand.

So, what was the hold up?

the hold up was apparently i misunderstood which mount off of the conquest i needed two of. also their is a height difference of a half inch, between the mighty max mounts (rubber) and the conquest.
I cut a different mount down and rewelded the angle to match the mount i needed.
ohh yeh and i got a virus in my computer and it crashed. Big mess

All good now, so far.
heres pics.
