Tuning tomorrow! WISH ME LUCK!
Tuner is coming down from PA to tune the car tomorrow. First we'll make sure everything is fine at my house, then we're going to the dyno about an hour away. All billable time. Wish me luck! I need it!

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

Well. It didnt go so well. No, I didnt blow it up. Actually the motor seems just nuts. 7psi at 2500rpm. 136hp at 3000rpm after only 1 pull. Sounds great and runs strong.... well... almost.
The MSD, my second, is giving me crap. It sometimes just cuts out on all channels and shuts off. The LED on it just pulses. The manual gives no explanation. It'll also break up under load. This was a used unit I got on ebay. One of the older ones with the dip switches and not the dials. Last one I sent back to MSD came back "Economically Unrepairable". Now I see why Kevin was joking earlier in the day saying that MSD stands for "My Spark Disappeared".
Kevin Black the Autronic dealer in PA is tuning my car. He's totally cool. I really get along with him. He explains things best he can with my biting my nails the whole time. I really hope I can actually remember all the wonderful tricks he shows me. He also diagnosed as far as to show that the Autronic was functioning fine with the aid of his osiliscope. We also got the base timing and idle ironed out as well as some other things that at least prove the car works.
I had Kevin order a $900+ Autronic CDI for me. I'm getting fed up with this thing. Haha. You can tell when the credit card comes out to solve a problem fast. Should be ordered on Sunday (Monday in Australia) and shipped here in 3 days. Might have enough time to tune it before the big race weekend. Hard to say.
I've fought this car every step of the way. It didnt even phase me this time. Just loaded it up, took it home and got back to work. Unloaded the car and let it idle. Idles lumpy as hell at 900rpm or so. Can't believe it doesnt shut off. Its not running bad, but these cams.. they are BAD. Haha. I'm going to investigate any possible problems with my coil harness as well.
Hopefully this thing will go back together really fast.
I knew tuning was one "component" I was going to prioritize. $350 down... no clue where it will end.

I was planning on tuning all by myself, but when it came down to it I wanted it done sooner rather than later and right the first time. I know Matt ran a base tune on his car for a year and still has yet to get the car dyno tuned. I wouldnt be satisfied with that. Plus I'm trying to promote RWD 4G63/4G64 stuff as well as defending my turbo and other choice in parts. The only thing that people want to see is POWER and dyno sheets to prove it. How many times have people posted here asking about how much power they could make with X+Y+Z. This professional tune should really show off how well all these parts work together.
