So I was messing around looking for AN lines and such for my fuel system and probably my coolant lines and I found this:
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s ... ryId=84454
I measured a stock upper radiator fitting against a small block chevy manifold that was laying around. The coolant hole in the bottom is the same size at 1 7/8". The Jeg's piece has the outlet so you could exit the coolant on either side of the motor. I think it could clear the CAS if you face it to the intake manifold. It should be an easy fit. However the mounting holes are wider apart on the chevy at 3 1/4". The Mitsu housing is only 2.5". I think the Jeg's piece could be made to work. If not, I found a Hyundai outlet that has a temp. sensor on the top. It can be drilled out and tapped to accept a new fitting. I know alot of people have AN fittings welded to the stock outlet and work well, but I want something that doesn't have to be run on the turbo side of the motor. I'll keep my eyes out and see what else I can find.
Possible thermostat housing solution

Well, it looks functional. That's about the only good thing I could say. Could you imagine those coolant lines near a turbo? I'm sure we could build an elbow off of the stock thermostat housing and use a remote mount thermostat or something. I just thought the GM unit was a near bolt on solution. I might steal a GM stock outlet and see if I can modify it to work. Then it would give me some idea if the Jeg's piece would work. If not, I might just see if I can either modify a stock flange or something. I just want something clean and preferibly exits the head on the intake side.
