MM Swap

Post by LampShady »

Hey Guys,

I'm a previous GVR4 owner (haven't touched a dsm/mmc in 10 years) that's been dreaming of a 4G Mighty Max for years. I've finally found a clean mighty max that could make a great project. I wanted to see if my thoughts were in line with reality on a budget build to start. So I guess my first question is, if the MM in question has the 2.4 or 2.1 can I just swap over the head and run everything from a stock 1G minus the intake and plumb the stock oil pan for the turbo feed and return? As far as the ECU goes, If I use a 1g ECU does the harness need to be replaced? Would DSM link offer a cleaner or less mix/match solution? Obviously I'm dreaming about a build with a W58 and a ford rear end but at the moment I'm just curious what it would take to make it drivable. Any other opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

yes everything will bolt onto the 2.0 or 2.4 however mighty max come sohc 8v engines. so without different pistons the dohc head will not work. the easiest choice would be to get a complete long block out of a DSM and bolt it in place of your existing engine.
make sure you know whether you have a narrow block or wide block transmission all car engines are narrow blocks.
