I have looked at the engine list, and it appears to me that these trucks may fit into two categories.

G63B Narrow Block 6-bolt 5/84-4/87 Mighty Max pickup, Montero, RWD, etc. etc.
or
G63B Wide Block 6-bolt 5/86-4/87 Mighty Max Pickup, RWD, Auto, Hydraulic Lifter.
Can anyone help me to tell which engine is in this truck? I'm looking to get a 4g63 Wide block and this truck is an hour away from me.
Thanks,
Is this a Wide Block or a Narrow Block?

Well niether of those were wide blocks. Then the next truck that was another 30 minutes further away from my house was suppose to be an automatic, but it was a stick. Regardless it was a narrow block.
So the next day, I went up north to Canada to check out what I thought was a wide block 6-bolt 4g64 on an automatic 1990 Ram 50. Well it was a stick, but it still had the wide block 4g64 6 bolt!!!
So I snatched that up and then my buddy noticed they had a 1gb talon tsi in the yard, so we checked that out and the head on it was like brand new! No brown oil coating or anything, it looked perfect. So I snatched the head to get the complete long block. Then I also grabbed the engine harness and most of the body harness so I can run dsmlink.
Lastly we went across the street to the import pick n pull to look at a turbo rx7 my buddy wanted the diff for. Well the diff turned out to be the wrong one, but it still had the transmission in it, so I picked that up with the drive shaft for $150!!!!
So needless to say, it was a pretty good weekend. I'll be going with the 4g64 setup with the starion transmission for as long as it holds up, then I'll switch to the rx7 one. I'll be using dsmlink for engine management.
