Flywheel question...help needed please.

Post by Rx7*** »

Hi there ..have been a member here for a few yrs but my project got shelved for awhile.
Need some advice on a suitable flywheel for my conversion.
Engine is a narrow block, 7 bolt crank, its bolted to a wide block sigma, jap gearbox (using a 8mm adaptor plate)
Im in australia and we dont seem to have any 7 bolt flywheels with the same specs as the sigma flywheel (which was 6 bolt) if we have i cant seem to find one. Im pretty sure a sigma flywheel is the same as a starion but i could be wrong.
Wondering what models from usa may be suitable for this job??
Can go custom of course but id rather not :)
Any help or advice would be great... i remember talking to someone on here regarding my conversion ages ago and he was very helpful..just cant remember who it was hahahaha

Starions should be 6 bolts as well, 7 bolts didn't come about till the 90s. Over here 7 bolts that may work come from 92-99 DSMs (Eclipse/talon/lasers). FWD flywheels are the about the same size as your stock siggy one, I know fwd 6 bolts are 110 teeth on the ring gear, but not sure about the 7s. Don't see why they would be different, but wouldn't be surprising if it was different.
