head swap

Post by vans »

hello, l have a L 400 0r Delica van that comes with SOHC l want to put a DOHC on a (2L) motor it looks like l could be in trouble with the inlet manifold, the inlet manifold is as long as head which nearly touches the fire wall any idea how too get around this would be great. also is it worth putting the DOHC on the 2.4 motor, l seen on this site that the 2.4 is 6mm higher than the 2L motor and by the looks of my engine bay less is going too be better. any would be great

6mm is a tiny bit of height difference when it comes down to it.

Which intake manifold are you using? Post a photo.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

sorry its taken me so long to get back to you, l didnt know how to answer your reply.
problem is the air filter tube to the fuel intake body, the body it self will fit its the tube hitting the fireawall , l might be able to work something out with a carby airfilter manifold l havent started on the van just yet so l havent taken any pics yet. l want to use G64 motor (that came with the van, its a wide block)but l have notice on the forum that timing has to be taken into account because of the 6mm hight difference between G63 & G64 motors (the head + electrics came off a Hyundia Sonata 2L narrow block DOHC 96 model) wondering what the go is with the timing marks and lam in Australia and there dont seem to be many G64 DOHC motors around because l will need the timing belt as well.
