I used a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder water pipe I bought from PullaPart for $2. The Spyder water pipe has O-ringed connections at both sides rather than just one like most 4g pipes.
The O-ring on the thermostat side has a slight bend to it. I thought it was ideal to start the route towards the front to the radiator and/or space it a bit off the block. But when mounting was irrelevant because I'm just going to 90* down off it and run under the alternator to the radiator.
Conveniently the Spyder pipe has this tab which can be bent to line up with bolts on the block or power steering bracket. Not bent to line up in the picture, still working on that.....
I chose to use a -20 AN bung which is close to the stock 1.5in radiator hose. I have been getting AN lines off Ebay for cheap lately.
Just a option I thought I would share, may not be ideal for everyone but it worked for me. A welded bead on the end would work too, instead of the AN fitting.
