Does anyone here have there 4g63t RWD swap smog legal in CA
I have a 4g63t swapped into my truck with all emissions. Per what I was told by the Smog Refs is to swap an engine it has to be newer engine than vehicle, and retain all smog equipment. I did both. I took it to the smog ref and he had problems with the down pipe, it didnt go under the engine like stock(no shit) and also the throttle body moved to front of manifold. These in no way or shape affect the emission the engine will put out so I have no idea why he is saying those are problems. After a bunch of talking with him he was going to email/call his supervisor and show him pics of the "problems" and see what he had to say and get a hold of me in a day or two. But I was just wondering if anyone else has had there RWD 4g63t swaps checked off by the Smog refs so I have more proof that this is perfectly acceptable. I am most likely taking it to another ref station(Sacramento area) if his "superior" says no also. Thanks for any insight you guys might have.

your not allowed to weld on the intake manifold in California, that would be the only hitch I can tell you, so you really dont want to mention it, you have to do it in a way its not detectable
the intake must include the EGR port from the opposite end of the manifold too
but that is all I know about it, seems kinda funny he would question the down pipe?
