DJ's Motor Mount adapter question? 4G63 Starion!

Post by kensington164 »

I just had some steel plates made to move my engine 2" forward in my Starion swap. I could not find much info specificly on the plates he made...so if you wanna link me to it that would be great!

So the issue I'm running in to is the fact that I had my plates made 3/4inch thick and now it seems like I can't get the motor to sit on the mounts. It make sense thought right.....move something up almost an inch you can't expect everything just to bolt back together.

So how thick is your adapter plate? Should I get the plates made thinner? What did you do different to make it work?

Here is an image of DJ's adapter and I can post some pics of mine when I get home tonight. I just wanted to give you guys a visual!

If you look at the stock mounts they are not nearly that thick. I don't think they are even 1/4 inch steel. Whatever you use, if you bolt the stock mounts on top of it, the engine will also be moved slightly higher. If you are going to go that far you might just build the entire mount between the crossmember and engine brackets from scratch.

Someone has a picture of exactly what they did and it is very similar to yours, but steel, and a lot thinner. I don't remember who, maybe they will get on in the next few days and answer.

I coundnt find anything about thickness but what saying makes sense! If the thin cross member can hold it in I didn't need to go so thick. I have been running some ideas thru my heqad to over come this issue! Here's some actuall pics

So the stock motor mount is 2" thick so if I make 1 1/4" emount to attach to my mount adapter it shound work out. I can get some 5/8" rubber blocks from my work. Ill post an update soon I've been working on mounts and wiring lately. Thanks for the reply! If you have photos of your mounts please post up some images for referance!
