If your motor uses the sandwich style cooler, you can use something like this:

Cant remember the thread sizes for a DSM oil filter, but I'm sure you can track that down / measure it and see what adapters they have on Summit Racing or some other part supplier's website.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.

You can use an evo3 setup. Here is the oil filter housing that is needed to run an external oil cooler:

thanks. ive now got the sandwich adaptor. so i riped off the old cooler and went to install it. that screw showed in the picture screws directly onto the housing and then the adaptor slides onto the screws other half. but now there is no screw for the oil filter to bolt to? there is thread on the inside of the half screw that the adaptor slides over, but i cant see any filters that have thread on the outside. what do i do?
The threaded adapter and the original threaded oil filter pipe would be needed. There is normally a threaded pipe already in the stock oil filter housing that is removable. If you just have a hole you are missing it. You will have to thread the adapter and the original pipe together for it to work.
I think what you need to do is leave the original thread where it was, set the cooler adapter on it, then thread the female section on the original pipe, leaving the new thread out for the filter and clamping the adapter up. From my idea the nut and thread would be looking you in the face once the adapter was on.

Here you go, this is better than any description than I can make.

Here is another OEM solution.
http://www.streettunedmotorsports.com/p ... ousing.htm
The EVO 8-9 oil filter housing bolts up to the 7-bolt motor. It does point the filter down, but it has provisions for large oil cooler lines. You can get Metric to AN adaptors and run line to any cooler you choose. I'm sure it's a little more expensive than some sandwich adaptors, but it's OEM and has a built in thermostat etc.
