All the oily, spinning bits

What crank do I have?

Post by AustinTSI »

I swapped some stuff with a guy the other day and he gave me a crank saying it is a 1.6L crank and that is what I needed to maintain a 2.4L in the 2.4L wideblock that he also traded me. This sounds really fishy to me.

So I need to know how I can tell what crank I actually have. Anyone know?

Thankx, David.

I don't know if I mis-understood him or if he didn't know what he was talking about but it is a 4g64 crank. That is what is stamped into it. They kept talking about stroked this and de-stroked that and stroker crank and custom pistons and I think they were more confused than I was.

End result is that a stock 4g64 block + stock length 4g64 rods + stock size 4g64 pistons = 2.4 liters with a stock rod ratio

Was probably getting confused with a destroker which is a 4g63 (88 mm stroke) crank in a 64 block useing 6 mm longer rods which will bring the pistons to the top of the block and give a better rod ratio which in turn makes for less side load on the bores/pistons and better revability and a capacity incerase somewhere between 2.1 & 2.2 depending on final bore size
