TECHNICALLY, i got a hold of you so i could put it all in a 1st gen rx7,
then you have the complete other end of things, there are some crafty subaru guys out there that like to reframe their cars, put solid axles under them. but until i ran across bill, guys would either weld the center diff of an awd tranny or run an older 4x4 tranny always in 4wd and then run the output out the rear to a divorced transfer case, say from a samurai and then run your front and rear axles from that.
it worked but wasn't perfect.
then there is the 3rd group, the rwd in a subaru. guys have been doing it for awhile now. but to do it they welded the center diff and hoped for the best. the "transfer gears" (as i like to call them) in the center diff area, were never meant to hold all the power. it works, but for how long is the question.
so there was never the perfect answer for all three people, but now, there is.
ok not perfect perfect, but the little things i'm going to have to deal with like a shifter relocation thingamabob are far less stressing then always worrying about breaking the trans.
once again, Bill makes works of art.
