wire diagrams? 4g63 rvr turbo vs evo 1-3 4g63!
i need a reliable diagram comparing these two cars wiring loom, i have a turbo rvr loom and motor but will have the motor ste up like an evo motor as im changing the head etc. both these engines have a 7 bolt crank, any help please???
As far as i know there is no diagram for the evo 3 loom. Atleast i could not find one and only found posts of people unable to find it.
I Do however use a evo 3 loom in my Starion combined with a evo 8 ecu.. So i have figured out how most of it works..
What exactly are you trying to do? Because if you already have a 4g63 DOHC in your car it's usually alot easier to just modify the existing loom and just use the rvr engine with rvr ECU.

im trying to run the turbo rvr like the evo motor would run, so id want to use an evo ecu? i heard the rvr and evo ecu are diffrent?
i have an evo 1-3 pinout diagram which has helped alot, ive matched alot of wires up with the pin out diagaram to the loom ive got, its basically identical.
i have put evo injectors on and thinking of putting evo 3 cams in? as ive heard rvrs have lesser cams? would this help.
My CAS is also on front of head, evo is back head. would this have any effect on using diffrent ecu?
Any help much appreciated thanks

You can use the evo 3 ecu with the rvr loom
To do so you may have to swap some wires for the fuel pump relay and conditioner (those are swapped) and maybe the radiator fans as well.
The evo cams are better, and you also need the evo injectors (510's)
You can run it with the RVR CAS, but then you have to swap the spark plug leads (swap 1&4 with 2&3)
It's also possible to mount the evo CAS and wire that into the rvr cam signal (only cam signal is required, but you can also wire in the Crank signal).
I know this works.. as i've done it using a Evo ecu with a Eclipse (eu 4g63 non turbo model) Loom and RVR engine.

Ok thanks for that. why do i have to change the spark leads around? are these wired diffrently in the evo ecu to my loom?
My engine has the cam sensor on front head also it does not have it on back head like the evo and vr4.
i have the new evo injectors on and are waiting for the evo 3 cams to arrive

Actually the RVR (and 95-96 eclipse) use a inverted cam signal.
So if you use a EVO ecu you need to compensate for that fact.
And swapping the cables will do that for you. (you actually have 2 coils that fire 2 cylinders each, you are actually swapping the coils)
You could also swap the input wires of the coils.. but just the leads is easier.

ok i have now put in the new cams and have a link g2 ecu for evos 1 -3, while i was taking of one of the cam gears i accidently broke the cam sensor as part of it sits on the inside of the gears. checking my loom and comparing it to the evo loom i see that both cam and crank sensors are both in exact same pinout position, and both wires matching colours. whats best to do, get a new cam sensor for the front or get the cam sensor off an evo which is mounted on back?
Your loom has 2 plugs with 3 wires each
each has +5v ,ground and signal
One plug is crank signal, the other cam.
The evo 3 cam angle sensor plug has 4 wires
2 signal, 5v and ground
And has both cam & crank signal
If your lucky enough the wire colours match..
and maybe this'll help: (just googled this )
