An opportunity has come up and it seems the right time to move on from this car. This is an original turbo Dodge Colt GT. I have owned this car for three years and it has been my daily driver the entire time. It has also made the trip from Colorado to Las Vegas without issue. Asking $3200obo. So here's the breakdown:
1989 Dodge Colt GT 164k miles
1990 4G63T 6-bolt swap w/ balance shafts eliminated (unknown mileage)
1990 Air/Oil cooler
14b turbo 14lbs. boost
1990 Turbo FWD transmission
1990 ECU w/ SAFC-II
Walboro 255lph w/ rewire
Fidanza flywheel & stock Excedy clutch
Upper Intercooler Pipe w/ stock 1G intercooler
Dejon Power Intake w/ K&N Filter
3" turbo back exhaust w/ 3" cat and 3" Magnaflow muffler
Autometer Boost gauge
Water Temp/ Oil Pressure/ Voltage gauges
1G AWD KYB struts
1G AWD Eibach Springs
16 " OZ Racing Wheels w/ 205/45/16 General Exclaim UHP tires
Car has power windows w/ "upgraded" door panels
Equipped w/ Cruise and A/C
When I first purchased this car in 2007, it was minus motor and trans with 143k miles. The 1990 motor is of unknown mileage, but compression test looked good (I can do another if needed). I also replaced all timing components when I installed it including the hydraulic tensioner that some people skip. Also when first installed, I removed the balance shafts and installed the Fidanza/Excedy clutch set. I have since replaced the passenger side axle with a new unit and replaced the front brakes including the rotors, pads, and new bearings.
Also, when I purchased the car it was minus most of the interior. I have since replaced all of the interior with the exception of the rear seats. I have made a tasteful seat delete shelf that extends into the spare tire area.
It currently has a Clarion head unit with 4 Sony 6.5" 3-way speakers, 2 3.5" front speakers and a 10" Sony sub and amp tucked under the spare tire area.
The car runs exceptionally well and has no major mechanical issues.
That's the good news. Here's the bad:
The body is looking it's age. The paint still polishes up on most of the car, but the minor dents and dings are starting to show. There is NO RUST with the exception of a small bubble at the top of the windshield. The front bumper was hacked by a previous owner, but still retains the stock turbo lip. The windshield has the standard DSM/CSM crack. The interior is well worn. The driver's seat has a large tear and wear spot on the side. The door vinyl is cracking and it has recently received 2 nice cracks in the dash pad.
The car runs great, but has an unknown random no-start. Give it a bump with the clutch and it always starts. The fans do not turn on with the stock relay for some reason. I have hard wired a hand switch which works fine. The only time the car has refused to run was when I got some corrosion in the ignition power transistor. After cleaning, it runs fine. It has the standard 4G63 oil filter housing oil drip. It has otherwise been a reliable car. The car has a functioning A/C, but the A/C switch will not activate the compressor. I believe it may be a relay issue, but I have not resolved this.
The car is no beauty queen, but is well motivated. It serves me as a daily driver/sleeper. I have only taken the car to the track once with poor track conditions. It managed a 15.3sec. 1/4 mile @ 93mph with no traction in 1st or 2nd.
I'm sure I left out a ton of mods other good info. My price is fairly firm as this is about what it will take to replicate a CSM w/ 4G63 swap, but will never replace the rarity of an original 1989 turbo car. PM with questions or further info.
