Oil Sump Location

Post by DoubleJ »

I have been doing some mild searching on this topic: How should I modify my oil sump or "oil pickup tube" on my motor to change it from being front sump....

For some reason i am having trouble finding a clear simple answer.

Whats the most common/easiest way?
Does anyone have any pictures etc?

take a look at rear sump ford oil pans, it was an option on some 351's

it is best to locate the pick up tube in the rear of the sump, because the oil drives backwards when you accelerate forward

when you add tubing inside of the oil pan, you will need to attach the long end with one of the main cap bolts to secure it

but because of how the Mits 4G63 oil pump is laid out, it would be possible to use an external pick up tube

i basically have the same question about making a 4g a rear sump.

but i'm not getting what you're saying about getting a pan from a ford 351. are you saying to graft on the pan and use the oil pick up from the ford. or am i just missing your point completely
