thermostat housing question

Post by bjlind8888 »

i have searched the forums and havent came up with an up front answer i am putting a 4g63t into a mm and moved the motor forward 3 inches.. i have heard u use the 4g37 thermostat housing.. is that the top or the whole unit and does it bolt up to the head.. because i am trying to eliminate useing 2 coolant lines to the back of the head and using the stock mm water pump.. just wanting to know details and pictures..

You don't use the whole thing just the top piece that covers the thermostat. All this does is make it so the radiator hose isnt pointing towards the firewall but right out towards the pas side of the engine, also removes an a/c temp sensor

You'll save yourself heaps of trouble if you keep the engine in the stock location and run the water out the front of the head. The modifications to the head / HG take minutes and it will save hours in the future when you don't have to deal with things on the back of the head.

Getting the engine bolted in is about 10% of the way there.
The next 80% can go quickly with help and skill.
That last 10% takes about as long as the 90% that came before it.
