SOHC head on a DOHC

Post by coltboostin »

Ok, so after some research its obvious the Evo head will be too much work. A little poking around has shown that another viable option to get the exhaust flying out the back instead of the front is a 2.4 SOHC 16v head out of a 99+Galant-4G64/G4CS- flip motor (#1 on pass side). Form experience, these motors are more 2g 7 bolt than anything else-so logic would be the heads would be similar-if not the same.

I already know the gaskets are different, but not by much. Another issue would be CAS-does it have one? What does it look like? Does anyone know if this would be a viable swap?

the difference is the oil drain holes in the block,
the EVO block has huge oil drain holes from the head to the oil pan, the second gen 4g63 block is casted to accept the holes but they are not drilled, the EVO cylinder head would fit easily on the second gen 4G63 but not the first gen 4G63 because the block is not casted to accept the drian back holes

I saw that bill- but I dont have a 2g block now-nor do I want to invest in a 2g set up. Thats why Im looking at a 6 bolt solution. If not-I will just have to make it work.
