'90 TPS vs. '91-'94 TPS

Post by Gentleman Rogue »

so the wiring harness for my truck is from a '90 GS, and im going with a '91-94 throttlebody. the problem is the '90 harness has an extra wire going to the TPS. the '91-'94 has three wires, green with white stripe, green with black stripe, and green with red stripe. the '90 has all of those, as well as a solid green wire.

can this extra wire just be eliminated? does it need to be tied in with something else, or what?

I believe that extra wire goes to the throttle stop switch. It's a one wire switch on the opposite side of the t/b to the tps. 1990 and 95+ had this built into the TPS.

They call it an idle switch. That's definitely what the solid green wire goes to b/c I'm chasing a problem with mine right now. I've also found some of the pins at the ecu are different, like the pin for that green wire at the ecu on the 90s is used for a wire that goes to the MAF on later models.
