I am debating using a starion chassis for 10.5 racing. I have a ton of questions about the starion setup.
Hopefully you guys can get me on the right track.
What is the motor mount setup like, will a narrow 2.0 block bolt up to a factory front member with some type of factory mounts?
What suspension can you run to get 1.3 60 foots, how tall and wide of a slick can you fit, what wheels and backspace?
What are you doing for brakes?
How light is a 4g63 starion with a powerglide and 10 point cage. Most of the interior will be removed and replaced to look as clean as possible.
Thanks in advanced.

AND CONSIDERING A 87 AND LATER STARION/CONQUEST CAME WITH 9 INCH WIDE WHEELS AS A FACTORY OPTION 10.5S ARE NOT A PROBLEM..YOU NEED TO SERCH HERE AND ON THE STARQUEST BOARD ....

Has anyone run 28" tall slicks?
The motor mounts won't make a huge difference, were going to brace the front of it with a bar like buschur did on his conquest. Or use the adapter plate as a mid plate. I know of cars with rubber mounts that still pull great 60 foots anyways.
I have done some searching, the problem is it doesn't always find the best way to do something right now. Rear struts are a problem, i found some people doing inserts, cutting and welding, and installing adjustable spring perches.
I didn't really find anything on race brakes.

I think there was a guy on the starquest boards and Ebay named "Mookee" that had some fabbed stuff for the quest/starions.
As for the brakes, try www.racetep.com, ebay, tire-rack.. I think that the stock brakes would work for just drag racing. I don't think that you'd be hitting over 175mph by the trapps. Just find some crossdrilled/slotted rotors with some porterfield pads or the like. A road corse would be different.
The rear struts squat badly already for wieght transfer. Do you want to stiffen them up more for less squat?
I can go and measure the rears later this morning for 'stock' clearences.
Have you found a chassis yet or just thinking of one?
I have a red 87 that's already stripped out from int and drivetrain (still has the torque tube/rear susp) that I need to sell... PM me if interested, it's near Memphis TN and CHEAP.
