Hey all, was just looking at my newly built Megasquirt module here and some of the schematics for wiring and I began to realize that none of them are stated as "standalone" and all show making connections at the factory ECU connectors, in my case this is not what I intend to do.
I want to start from scratch, re-use whatever components I can (for simplicity and future attainable) like CAS, CKP, O2 sensor, IAT, IAC, TPS, CTS, knock sensor, Ignition Coils, and whatever else I have momentarily forgotten.
I have MSI v2.2 running MSNS-E firmware and I want touse it as a full stand alone for Ignition and Fuel and Boost control.
I have been doing my research for near 4 days straight now and there are a few things that I thought the forum could possibly help with like some wiring diagrams or tips/pointers or even their own "How I did it's" would even be great.
Controlling the Coils is confusing me a bit, but then again the coils are at the shop and I haven't been there in a few days, Iv'e been here, at the computer and in the books.
Help me if you can.
I think (pretty sure) that I am running a 2g setup.

I have also built a megasquirt ECU however i went with MS2 and loaded it with the MS2EXTRA code. Controlling the coils is straight forward u can either control them directly on the board or as im planning on doing use the stock Power transistor the same way the stock ecu controls them. The tricky part is getting the megasquirt to accept the signal produced by the CAS, neither MS1 nor MS2 can read the 4g63 CAS "as is" and require the EXTRA code to be loaded along with a seperate circuit to be built to convert the CAS signal into one the megasquirt can use.
I'll try and answer any questions u may have or direct u to where u might find them

I'm using the MSNS-E, basically the same thing except for the MS-1 PCBv2.2StellarDOHC wrote:I have also built a megasquirt ECU however i went with MS2 and loaded it with the MS2EXTRA code. What about the 4g64 DOHC CAS from a 94 Galant GS? is this the same as 4g63 CAS or something totally different?
Are the stock Igniters located in the Coil Pack itself or in the OEM ECU? Cause the Mighty Max has a dizzy with a hall effect inside, and that's going away.

DIYAUTOTUNE.COM has the complete standalone configuration for a 4Gxx engine including schematics and great documentation. It is where I did my MS1 pcb3 build and install including mods you might want to do.
Here is the direct link to the article. http://diyautotune.com/tech_articles/ho ... _laser.htm
Also, this graphic should help when you are wiring it to the various sensors and controls.

!!! ~ Warning ~ !!!
Before you turn on the megasquirt for the first time DISCONNECT the COIL, PCM Ignition Control Module, and Injectors.
You do not want to burn up anything when turning on
the megasquirt for the first time. The settings in the
megasquirt might not be proper and could send a surge
of power out. I burnt up my PCM- Ignition Control Module.
NOT every MegaSquirt ECU will be configured exactly the same. This is how mine worked out.
MegaSquirt to 2nd gen 1995 talon turbo harness pin out.
Any opinions would be nice! If i missed somthing please let me know.
I went through and noted some of the wiring for a Megasquirt harness to the 2nd gen harness. i have a patch harness from Mach-V that i cut and spliced wires to the megasquirt harness. That way i can remove it as easily as unplug the patch harness. My car is 100% stock. I want to learn how to properly tune MegaSquirt. The only added mod is a innovate WB and a IAT sensor.
Some of the sensor signals can be shared. as in spliced from dsm harness to megasquirt harness.
coils/ignitors and injectors can not be shared.
