Explorer Rear End Swap

Post by lsr mike »

Saw where Ligo1 did a explorer rear end swap in a Mighty Max. Doing some research and I find the centersection is offset to the passenger side.

28 inches fron center to Rh hub

31.5 inches from center to LH hub

Also the one I'm looking at has disc brakes (that would be nice)

Is this offset on all? or is it a variant? any opinions about using an offset where a centered unit was originally?

I 'think' they are offset on the max as well - as best I could measure in the junkyard with a tape. From what people are saying, the should slot right in. Even the e-brake lines are at the same position / angle and the stock axle. This one had drums on it so I'm not entirely sure about disk brakes...

Hey Mike, I am looking to do the 8.8 swap as well, here is some good info on them:

The disk brake rear out of 95+ explorers would be nice, but they are wider.
