Meth injection...

For the truck...not me :)

I was listening to a friend with a turbo vw Sciracco (sp?) tell me about how he runs 8.8:1 compression, 15 psi of boost, and on 87 octane with no knock. His intercooler isn't even very large.

That got me thinking...That compression ratio and boost level don't sound too different from what I am shooting for with my 4g project. For a safety factor running a tad more boost, I wonder if I could get away running the 87 octane with some water-meth injection. Correct me if I'm wrong but just cruising around town, there is no sense in running premium when I am buring at partial vacuum and no where near the limit of knocking. When I am on the boost, I can zero in on a leaner A/F ratio. Say 12.0 instead of 11, get more power and still no knock.

I'm just now learning about injection systems and am normally pretty skeptical with the claims but really, I'm starting to think this system should be on all turbocharged cars.

Ideas? Opinion? Fully of crap?
