ecu question

Post by marshal1979 »

Hey everyone/anyone,
Ive got a 90 d50/max 4G64 narrow and I picked up a 94 talon 4G63t head but before I go on and start getting more parts to do the swap I need help to figure out what ecu to use. Im in NJ and we cant get around state inspection plugging into the factory ecu to keep it street legal (emissions and crap) any suggestions what ecu will work with the head swap and read that emmisions are "clean"/ running properly for inspection? (obviously Im new at this)Image
I really appreciate any and all help

I your swapping over with a turbo and everything, just use the factory ECU if your keeping it stock. If not, your probably going to have to swap everything over anyways because your SOHC ECU isnt going to be able to operate a DOHC motor. If you want something tuneable, checkout www.ds-map.net for a really good/inexpensive option. As far as them being able to plug into the factory ECU, I know you can wire up your OBD I plug with the ECU, but i cant remember the wiring. Post in here in the electrical forum or go to www.hotrodcoffeeshop.com and look at the wiring sticky for more info...

Thanks for the info. So your saying the 2.0 ecu will work fine on the converted 2.4? Won't the ignition timing be off?
